Are You Struggling?

Hey, I was watching one of those weight-loss programs last night. One of those serious documentaries that follow people trying to lose weight and are MASSIVELY STRUGGLING. There were a few things that those people all have in common... They have been overweight from a very early age (so they have been conditioned from birth by their parents to eat a certain way)

They've tried every single supplement, have been yoyo dieting for years (no good), and pretty much starved themselves to try and lose weight (all unsustainable solutions)

They feel defeated and they were SURE that they would never be a healthy and an ideal weight (defeatist mindset = very low chance of success) They had absolutely zero help, support or coaching... As the show went on, I noticed one difference between the people who ended up losing tons of weight and staying in shape and the others who stayed the same. EDUCATION... See the thing is, WE DON'T KNOW, WHAT WE DON'T KNOW... (duh, right?) These people who were struggling with being overweight, unhappy, sluggish, and unmotivated were trying all these unsustainable options because they believed it was the answer that would get them the results they wanted - they actually thought it was good for their health! Sure, most of them lost some weight, but they ended up regaining everything and being in a worse place than where they started (yoyo dieting) But as we got nearer the end of the program it became clear to a couple of people understood what needed to be done... They couldn't rely on a quick fix. They had to change their habits. Changing your habits is a deeper change into the core of how you operate. You need the right education, coaching, and accountability measures to change old habits into new, healthy ones and undo the beliefs that led you to put on body fat month after month, year after year. It's two steps: You need to know how to undo bad habits, and how to implement good ones successfully. It can't be this 0-100 approach. Will power only lasts so long... So, if you're in the middle of a yoyo diet, shakes or silly weight-loss pills, that's ok: you didn't know any better. Now you do.

As always, dedicated to your success, - E. Lucas Zelazny, ATC, LAT
