Rest and Relaxation

How often do you take the time to truly indulge in and enjoy rest and relaxation?

Is the need for you time something that you tend to put off, neglect or even feel guilty about?

In order to truly give in life, we must first allow ourselves to receive.

Treating ourselves to feel connected, cared for and comforted is one of the kindest and most beneficial things we can do for ourselves and in turn affects how we choose to treat others.

Relaxing, calming our minds and allowing our bodies and muscles to recover from physical activities, sports, injuries and stress is invaluable and important to overall health and longevity.

When it comes down to self-care, there are an endless amount of paths that will lead us towards tranquillity and rejuvenation.

Massage, Acupuncture, Restorative Yoga, A Bubble Bath or Jacuzzi, Reiki, Tai Chi, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, etc.

I personally have found that massage is one of the most satisfying self-care rituals out there!

Potential benefits of massage include:

  • Increase in pain relieving chemicals naturally produced within the body

  • Increased relaxation response

  • Decreased anxiety

  • Increased circulation

  • Improved digestion

  • Mental clarity

  • Improved flow of energy

  • Decreased blood pressure

  • Improved mobility and flexibility in muscles and joints.

Magnesium oil is my absolute favourite for massage and is used in ‘Transdermal Magnesium Therapy’, a therapy which has the power to deliver powerful benefits to the body and mind.

Magnesium is a mineral responsible for regulating bone, glucose and insulin metabolism, nerve transmission, cardiac excitability, neuromuscular conduction, muscular contraction and blood pressure.

It is also a vital component in many metabolic processes such cellular energy production and storage, cell growth and reproduction and both protein and DNA synthesis.

Potential benefits of transdermal magnesium therapy include:

  • Reduced Muscle Tension & Soreness

  • Reduced Neck & Back Pain

  • Increases Energy & Boosts Mood

  • Relieves Cramps & Eases PMS Symptoms

  • Reduces Anxiety & Panic Attacks & Helps Insomnia

  • Reduces High Blood Pressure

  • Reduced Muscle Atrophy

  • Reduces Inflammation

  • Alleviates Headaches & Migraines & Constipation

  • Asthma Symptom Relief

  • Arthritis Symptom Relief

Contraindications to magnesium therapy include:

  • Kidney failure – the kidneys lose ability to remove excess magnesium.

  • Slow heart rate – magnesium relaxes the heart rate and reduces heart rate even lower.

  • Low blood pressure.

Moral of the Story :

MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF, BOOK A MASSAGE, MIX UP SOME ESSENTIAL OILS, SOAK IN AN EPSOM SALT BATH …

EXPLORE YOUR OPTIONS, DO WHAT WORKS FOR YOU & DISCOVER THE JOY IN FINDING TIME DEDICATED SOLELY TO YOUR WELLBEING!
