SENIOR FITNESS PROGRAM

As you grow older, keeping an active lifestyle is more important than ever. Regular exercise can help boost your energy, maintain your independence, and promote longevity.  It can help you to manage symptoms of illness or pain and improve your mind, mood and memory.

We understand that starting or maintaining a regular exercise routine can be a challenge. You may simply not know where to begin or think you are too old, too frail or maybe you just find exercise boring. While these may seem like good reasons to slow down and take it easy as you age, they're actually even better reasons to get moving. With the long, cold Vermont winters, maintaining your strength and balance are essential to living a vibrant, energetic lifestyle.

We have subject matter experts on our staff waiting to help you decide where the best place for you to start is and support you to stay consistently motivated. You may enjoy working privately with a trainer, or participating in one of our senior classes ~ a great way to have fun, stay motivated and meet new friends.

Gym membership and class participation is free for those 80+ years young!

Lower your risk! A variety of conditions, including Alzheimer’s and dementia, heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer, high blood pressure, and obesity can all be mitigated through exercise.

Maintain your independence! Research shows that a sedentary lifestyle is unhealthy for adults over 50. Inactivity often causes older adults to lose the ability to do things on their own and can lead to more hospitalizations, doctor visits, and use of medicines for illnesses.

Improve your balance! Regular exercise builds strength and stamina, prevents loss of bone mass and improves balance, actually reducing your risk of falling.
